Q: Are the bulbs recessed into the fixture, or do they stick out?

A: The socket for the light is at the back of the fixture, meaning, how far the bulb protrudes depends on which type of bulb you use. Common halogen lights will not be completely recessed in the fixture, per the manufacturer.
